TGE: Cogeneration Power Facility Greenpoint, New York, 2002
This conceptual design demonstrates how the buildings and site of a facility can become an armature for an "Urban Eco-Sustainable Network," including habitat creation, education, recreation, water preservation and growth of conservation plant material. When used for steam production, the facility can use a nearby municipal water connection. In addition, TGE is studying the option of purifying wastewater effluent for the production of sterilized steam. Under this option, each year the Project could save the City from bearing the environmental burden of millions of gallons of sewer wastewater, which would otherwise be dumped into the East River. Moreover, the project would pay the community for wastewater that is currently dumped into the East River. |
